MOCK PARLIAMENT REPORT
It was an exciting day for the students of classes 5 to 7 at MSB Educational Institute Bangalore on Saturday, 2nd October 2021 as they put on the 5th edition of Mock Parliament Session in the school Dua Hall. Mock Parliament is a simulation of the parliamentary proceedings. It is usually conducted as an educational tool to promote understanding of the working of the government.
The purpose of Mock Parliament is as follows:
- To make students understand the parliamentary procedure and develop in students an insight into the working of parliament.
- To make students contemplate om public issues and form their opinion on them.
- To train students in the technique of group discussion and develop in them an ability to arrive at a decision after a group discussion.
- To develop in students the quality of leadership and also to develop respect and tolerance for the views of others.
- To make students aware of the various problems facing our society and the country.
- To make students understand the common man’s point of view and be able to articulate it.
The students were selected on the basis of their performance in the quiz. Next was the announcement of the elections, approval of the party names and symbols, canvassing, voting, the announcement of the results and allotment of the portfolios. The selected members were then given the topics.
The topics were as follows:
- Khelo India-Building A Seamless Sports Ecosystem
- Paradigm Shift from Online to Offline Learning.
- Petrol Prices are Sky High- Manpower is the Only Cheap Thing in India.
- Urgent Action on Climate Change- There is no Planet B.
- National Health Screening-An Initiative to Reduce Odds.
- Indo-Sino Border Issues.
The speaker of the day was judged on these areas: Understanding the topic, Content, Rebuttal, Use of facts and statistics, Organization and respect for other team members. The best speaker of the activity was announced.
This activity helped students shape their ideas into reality and flourish in their respective fields of interest. The students held everyone in amazement including the judges with their speaking skills.
